A young woman has died while giving birth to a baby on the floor in a dilapidated  class room at  Bakassi IDP camp last week.

The young woman identified as Enobong Asuquo died after childbirth following retained placenta and post partum haemorrhage, on March 27, at Akwa Ikot Eyo Internally Displaced  Camp of Bakassi Returnees at Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.

$1billion arms fund: ''President Buhari will seek approval from National Assembly'' Presidency

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has dismissed speculations that President Buhari will bypass the National Assembly to give full approval for the release of $1 billion for arms purchase.

One Wednesday, President Buhari gave the approval of the fund for the purchase of arms for the military. PDP in a statement released by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbodiyan, called on the National Assembly to sanction President Buhari for giving approval for the release of the money without the permission of the lawmakers.

Jay-Z has spoken out about his feelings after his mother told him for the first time that she is a lesbian. In an interview with veteran host, David Letterman on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Jay Z said he had known prior to the conversation that his mother Gloria Carter was a lesbian but that was the first time he was having the conversation with his mother.

The 48-year-old rapper said: "For her to sit in front of me and tell me 'I think I love someone' – I mean, I really cried. That's a real story. I cried because I was so happy for her that she was free."

Benue Killings: Police recovers ten corpses in two communities

The Benue Police Command says it has recovered 10 corpses of villagers killed by suspected herders in Tse-Audu and Enger villages in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state last night Thursday April 5th.

In a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Moses Yamu, the bodies were found by the mobile police contingent deployed to Naka, the capital of the local government council after the attack. The statement in part reads

Teletubbies actor Simon Shelton killed by "high concentration of alcohol" and hypothermia, inquest rules

The cause of death of Simon Shelton, who played Tinky Winky in the popular children's cartoon Teletubbies, has been revealed.

According to an inquest, Shelton died of hypothermia. He was also found with a "high concentration of alcohol" in his body when he froze to death at the age of 52 following a night out in Liverpool in January.

Alleged Looters List: PDP chairman, Uche Secondus files N1.5billion lawsuit against Lai Mohammed

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has filed a N1.5 billion lawsuit against the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for defamation of character. The lawsuit is to challenge the inclusion of Secondus's name in the looters list released by the Minister.

In the first list released on March 30th, Secondus was alleged to have looted the nation’s treasury by receiving N200million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Namadi Sambo.

The manager of hip-hop musician, Innocent Tuface Idibia, Mr Efe Omorogbe, who is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Now Muzik Limited, yesterday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos over alleged forgery. Suspected herdsmen kill 24 in renewed attacks in Benue state

At least 24 persons have been reportedly killed in renewed attacks by suspected herdsmen in various communities in Benue state.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday April 5th, members of the House of Representatives from Benue state, said the attacks occured from April 2nd to April 4th in seven communities.

Student accused of killing his parents in his dorm room ruled incompetent to stand trial

The student of Central Michigan University, who killed his parents when they showed up at his dorm room to pick him up for spring break, will not go to trial, it has now been revealed.

On March 2, James E. Davis Jr. shot and killed his police officer father, James Eric Davis Sr., 48, and his flight attendant mother, Diva Davis, 47, after which he fled the scene.

Former South Korean President, Park Geun-hye jailed for 24 years for abuse of Power

Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, has been found guilty of abuse of power and bribery and jailed for 24 years. The Seoul Central District Court pronounced both the guilty verdict and sentencing  today on live television. Park was absent in court, but her flag-waving supporters gathered outside.

Park, the daughter of assassinated dictator Park Chung-hee, faced a total of 18 charges. The court ruled that Park colluded with her old friend, Choi Soon-sil, to receive tens of billions of won from major conglomerates such as Samsung and Lotte to help Choi’s family and fund non-profit foundations owned by her.

The peer review, an initiative of the HOSF, is designed to acquaint permanent secretaries with the functions of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and to compare notes.
