Photos: Saudi Arabia holds its first ever fashion week...with no photographers and no men

Saudi Arabia held its first ever fashion week last week. But photos of the latest fashion from the deeply conservative Muslim kingdom will not flood social media feeds because photograpers were not allowed. Men were also not allowed.

In spite of the absence of men and photographers,  it was a noteworthy event, with designers Roberto Cavalli and Jena Paul Gaultier featuring alongside local designers. The inaugural Saudi episode of Arab Fashion Week ran from April 10-14.

Nadinne Bruna, 32, wanted light grey eyes instead of hazel, but ended up losing 80 per cent of her vision in her right eye and 50 per cent in her left eye.

Donald Trump invites Buhari to Washington on April 30th

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will be the guest of US President Donald Trump on 30 April in Washington. According to a statement by the White House, Trump will discuss issues such as promoting economic growth and fighting terrorism with Buhari.  “The relationship of the United States with Nigeria is deep and strong, and Nigeria’s economic growth, security, and leadership in Africa will advance our mutual prosperity,” the statement said.

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that no amount of pressure, including the antics of hack writers and threats of litigation, will prevent it from releasing more names of the alleged looters of the public treasury.

In a statement issued in Lagos today April 15th, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said since the release of the first two lists of the alleged looters, there have been overt and covert attempts to intimidate and blackmail the Federal Government into discontinuing the release of more looters' names.

Spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress APC, Abdullahi Bolaji, says it is only President Buhari who can determine if he wants to run with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate in 2019. This is after President Buhari must have emerged the party's presidential flagbearer after a presidential primary must have been conducted.

Bolaji made the clarification few days after President Buhari declared interest to run for a second term in office. Some Nigerians have expressed fears that President Buhari might drop Osinbajo and pick someone else to run with him in 2019.

Aisha Buhari says "Why I threatened not to support my husband for a second term"

Wife of President Buhari, Aisha, has given reasons why she openly criticised her husband and threatened to withdraw her support for his re-election bid. Mrs Buhari in October 2016, granted an interview to BBC Hausa where she expressed disappointment at her husband's administration. In the interview, Mrs Buhari expressed doubt that she would support him if he seeks re-election unless he implemented immediate changes in personnel and policies.

In the wake of its account being hacked by a US-based hacker yesterday April 14th, the ruling party, APC, has opened new Website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube accounts. The party's popular handle @APCNigeria, was hacked yesterday with claims by the hacker that he bought the account from President Buhari. Now the party has opened new social media accounts.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi via twitter distanced the party from the hacked twitter handle.

16 year old girl hacks her father to death because he refused to allow her marry her married lover

The police in Abuja have arrested a 16-year-old girl named Emani Kure, for hacking her 40-year-old father, Kusha Kure, to death at their home in the Karavan village, Bwari Area Council of the Abuja FCT on March 11th because he refused to allow her marry her 24 year old married lover, Nasiru Musa.

According to The Sun, Emani and Musa, had been dating for about two years. Her father who wasn't in support of their relationship, withheld his support for their union when Musa expressed the desire to marry her.
