OAU suspends sex-for-mark lecturer indefinitely

Professor Richard Akindele, the Obafemi Awolowo University OAU lecturer who was recently caught in a recorded audio conversation asking one of his female students, Enitan, for sex in order to pass his course, has been suspended indefinitely. The audio conversation went viral last week.

A member of an investigative committee set up by the management of the school to look into the allegation, told Punch that the erring lecturer has appeared before the panel to state his own side but the female student who is a regular Masters student, failed to show up to testify before the panel.

Abducted twins of Oba Lekan Balogun freed after N10million ransom paid in Ibadan

The abducted twins  of Oba Lekan Balogun, Otun-Olubadan of Ibadanland were released today seven days after they were kidnapped. News Agency of Nigeria reports that the twins, abducted seven days ago were released in Lagos on Monday afternoon by the abductors after collecting a ransom of N10 million. 

The twins have since been moved to an undisclosed hospital for medical check-up. The  Balogun said the twins were released unhurt. He said that he has heard their voices, but he has not seen them.

Husband stabbed to death in Adamawa while trying to separate his feuding wives

A man was yesterday morning stabbed to death by one of his wives, while trying to separate their fight at their home in Dirdeu, Adamawa State. According to Abdulrahman Njidda Yebb, who was a witness, Adamu Dewa was stabbed by his first wife of 20 years, Hauwa.

It was gathered that the mother of 5 had always threatened Adamu with death on several occasions, accusing him of favouritism and unequal treatment between her and the second wife.

Wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino dies at 82

WE Hall of Famer and Italian wrestling legend, Bruno Sammartino, has died at the age of 82. Sammartino, who was the longest reigning champion in WWE history passed away at his home in Pittsburgh, after battling health issues for a long time.

Sammartino who made his professional debut in Pittsburgh on December 17, 1959, knocking out Dmitri Grabowski in 19 seconds, and also defeating Buddy Rogers in 1963 to become the second-ever WWE Champion.
