NAF 1st female combat helicopter pilot dies in road accident

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the death of Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who died on July 14, as a result of head injuries sustained from a road traffic accident at NAF Base Kaduna.‬

Late Arotile was the first female combat helicopter pilot in the NAF.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

CAN to lead Christians in nationwide protest over increasing herdsmen attacks

The leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed all Christians across Nigeria to join in its planned nationwide protest scheduled to hold on Sunday April 29th.

 In a statement released by his media aide, Pastor Bayo Oladeji, the president of CAN, Rev. Samson Olasupo, said the protest is to register its displeasure over the seeming inability of the Federal government to end killings in different parts of Nigeria, particularly in Benue, Plateau, Taraba and Nasarawa states.

24 hours after two priests were killed, Herdsmen strike again in Benue killing 16

Barely 24 hours after two catholic priests and 17 parishioners were killed by suspected herdsmen, 16 persons were today killed by suspected herdsmen in Ali Agundu and Tsav council wards of Guma Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.

Confirming the attack, the state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, said unidentified gunmen stormed the village at about 5am and shot the victims dead. He, however, added that information on the incident was still sketchy.

Residents in the state say the villagers were woken up by gunshots and wailing from victims of the attack.

NANS wants herdsmen to be declared terrorists over Benue state church killings

National Association of the Nigerian Students (NANS), has condemned the killing of two Rev. Fathers and 19 others in Benue by suspected herdsmen. 

NANS National Public Relations Officer, Bestman Okereafor, gave this condemnation in a statement issued in Enugu saying Nigerian students received with shock and sadness the gruesome killings and burning down of more than 35 houses at a Catholic Church in Ukpor-Mbalom community, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue by the suspects.

Wife kills her husband's side chick then takes her own life

A Delaware wife is believed to have ambushed a woman who was allegedly having an affair with her husband, then shot her before turning the gun on herself in a murder-suicide. Jennair Gerardot, 48, (right) from Wilmington, Delaware, shot and killed her rival 33-year-old Meredith Chapman on Monday night, Radnor Township Police in Pennsylvania allege.

The police said Jennair Gerardot, a marketing professional, meticulously planned the murder and lay in wait for her rival.

Indian spiritual guru, 77, gets life in prison for raping 16-year-old girl

A 77-year old Indian spiritual Guru has been sentenced to life in prison for raping a teenage girl in 2013. Asaram Bapu, who claims to have millions of followers worldwide, was sentenced after a court in the western Indian city of Jodhpur on Wednesday ruled that he had raped a 16-year old girl at one of his ashrams, where he instructed his disciples in meditation and yoga.

Danish inventor who killed a Swedish journalist has been sentenced to life imprisonment

Today, a Danish court sentenced inventor Peter Madsen to life in prison for murdering and dismembering a Swedish journalist aboard his home-built submarine in Copenhagen harbour in August 2017.

Madsen, dressed in black, sat completely still as his sentence was handed down in the Copenhagen City Court. Police detained him on August 11 last year when he emerged from his submarine without Wall, 30, who had boarded the vessel the previous day to do research on a story about Madsen.

Lauretta Onochie rejoices as Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is sent to prison, says he is a self-confessed thief

Earlier today, a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos remanded serving senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, in Ikoyi prison for allegedly committing N805 million fraud. Nwaoboshi represents Delta-North senatorial district where presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie comes from.

In a post she shared on her Facebook wall, Onochie expressed delight at the news of the senator's incarceration. She wrote;

A Ugandan tycoon known as Jack Pemba has been accused of releasing a sex tape with his ex-lover and popular socialite, Honey Suleman, which has gone viral online. Honey, a city businesswoman in Uganda has since reacted to the sex tape.

In a long Facebook post, seen on Edge.UG, she claimed that her ex-has been threatening her and her family members with the sex tape. She said Pemba had told them to pay $5,000 to withhold the video clip.

Earlier today, Senate President Bukola Saraki led other Nigerian senators to the National Hospital Abuja to pay a visit to Senator Dino Melaye who was hospitalised yesterday after allegedly jumping off a police bus.

A statement signed by Senator Dino Melaye's media aide, Gideon Ayodele today has explained the events leading to his reported escape from a moving police vehicle that landed him in a hospital in Abuja last night.  

According to him, the senator voluntarily submitted himself to the police and, therefore, did not deserve to be forcibly taken to Kogi State to stand trial in a slew of criminal indictments that include murder and armed robbery.

Beautiful Nigerian young lady, Aisha Kollere died on April 21, in Abuja following a brave battle with leukemia. According to friends and family member, Aisha fought the cancer till her last breath.

Details are sketchy, however, it seems she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2016. After being in remission, the cancer returned in 2017.

Lagos IGR hits N103.4b in first quarter of 2018...Capital expenditure gulps N93bn

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said its internally generated revenue for the first quarter of Y2018 stood at N103.476billion, as against N96.7billion recorded in the previous year, thereby accounting for 81 per cent of the total revenue of N141billion generated in the quarter.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Segun Banjo who disclosed this during the annual Ministerial Press Briefing to mark the third year in office of Governor Ambode’s administration held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said the records so far shows that the performance of the State’s Y2018 budget of N1.046trillion was heading in the right direction.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today Wednesday, April 25th, arraigned Sen.Peter Nwaoboshi before Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on a two-count charge bordering on money laundering and fraud to the tune of N805million.

He is charged alongside two companies namely : Golden Touch Construction Project Limited and Suiming Electrical Limited.
