Ex-FCT minister, Mohammed Bala and his son forfeit 14 choice properties to FG

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of 14 houses in choice areas of Abuja owned by former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Bala Mohammed and his son, Shamsuddeen. According to The Nation, the judge gave the order yesterday while ruling on an ex-parte application brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Man drugged, raped and murdered his own 14-year-old daughter then buried body in back yard

A father drugged, raped, and murdered his 14-year-old daughter and abused two other underage girls. Mark Mesiti, 49, confessed on Wednesday to committing the sickening crimes after evading justice for more than 11 years.

Alycia was reported missing in 2006 and Mesiti claimed she had gone on a camping trip with friends. Three years later detectives found her body buried in the back yard of Mesiti's home at the time in Ceres, California.

Germany has now joined Austria in the sex doll prostitution business by opening the country's first sex doll-only brothel in Dortmund. The brothel, named ''Bordoll'' was opened by 29-year-old Evelyn Schwarz and she has bought 11 silicone 'love dolls' - each of which she gave a unique name.

According to reports, the sex dolls were imported from Asia and they cost her €2,000 (£1,786) each. The sex dolls have different heights, hair colours, and breast sizes.

Billionaire notorious kidnapper, Evans, trial resumes today

The trial of notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, continues today at the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, Lagos. Evans and five others were brought to court this morning in cuffs. Evans who was arrested on June 10th, was first arraigned in court on August 30th on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping. He pled guilty to the charges and was afterward remanded at the maximum Kirikiri prison.

Unlike the first day of his arraignment when heavy security men were stationed within and around the court premises,  only two armored tanks were packed at the two entrances to the court this morning.

Monkey Pox hits Delta state, 6 suspected cases recorded

The Delta State Government has revealed that six suspected cases of Monkey Pox have been recorded in Agbor. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge confirmed the development to Channels Television.

According to him, three of the suspected cases have been treated and discharged, while two of the cases are still being treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, the state capital.

Senate Committee instructs EFCC to unfreeze Patience Jonathan’s accounts

Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions instructed Stanbic IBTC Bank and Zenith Bank to unfreeze two accounts linked to the former first lady, Patience Jonathan.

Members of the panel took turns to condemn the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for the continued freezing of the accounts by the banks when there was a court order vacating the freezing order and faulted the EFCC for notifying banks on court judgments freezing accounts domiciled in the financial institutions but allegedly refusing to write the banks when the freezing order had been vacated, but later served them with notice of appeal.

U.S. judge orders Donald Trump administration to allow abortion for teenage girl who is in the US illegally

A federal judge, Tanya Chutkan, on Wednesday ordered the U.S. government to allow an illegal immigrant 17 year old pregnant teenager in its custody, to have an abortion per her request.

Lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU, which represents the pregnant teenager, praised the judge’s ruling as a major victory for abortion and immigrant rights.

Tunisia jails couple for public indecency, after they were caught naked in their car

A couple have been sentenced to several months in prison in Tunisia after they were caught naked in their car. Nassim Ouadi, a 33-year-old French-Algerian, and his 44-year-old Tunisian girlfriend were sentenced on Wednesday by a judge at the Carthage district court, having been convicted of public indecency, intoxication and insulting a public official.

According to their lawyer, Ghazi Mrabet, the couple were driving last Friday when they pulled over in Gammarth, a suburb of the capital, Tunis, to discuss the route.

President Buhari Muhammadu approves pension payment to Biafra war veterans

President Buhari has approved payment of pension to soldiers, policemen and paramilitary officers, who were involved in the Biafra war  The veterans were dismissed from service for participating in the war, which lasted between 1967 and 1970. 

In a statement on Wednesday, the Pensions Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) announced that payment will commence on Friday, October 20, in Enugu state.

INEC to recruit one million ad hoc workers for 2019 general elections

Prof. Mahmud Yakub, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) told the Senate Committee on INEC  yesterday that the commission would recruit about one million ad hoc members of staff for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

According to him, the ad hoc workers to be deployed for the polls, which will begin in 484 days, will be about 300k higher than the 700k engaged for the 2015 general elections.

Seven former employees of Nigerian Airways die in one week while waiting for their pension

At least seven former workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways died in the last one week while awaiting their severance package from the Federal Government. 

Chairman, Elders Forum of the defunct Nigeria Airways, Mr. Godwin Jibodu, said the pensioners died in abject poverty despite having served the nation well.  He listed names of the deceased persons as Capt. Asuquo, Capt. Akintaju, Capt. Tunde Akinyosade, Capt. Sam Ohioma, and Mr. K. C.  Amah while Mr. T. Bellgam and Mr. Ebenezer Akinbode were down with stroke.
