President Jonathan splashes over N300m on Nigerian athletes

President Jonathan yesterday Oct. 8 rewarded Nigerian athletes and their officials who made the country proud at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Marrakech, Morocco, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, The African Youth Games in Gaborone, Botswana, The World Junior Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, and the 2014 FIFA Female U-20 Football World Cup in Montreal, Canada.

The president while giving a speech at the reception held in honour of the 351 sports men and women at the Banquet Hall of the presidential Villa, Abuja said over N300m will be splashed on the athletes has a way of showing appreciation to them.
Present at the Reception were, Senate President David Mark, Governor Uduaghan of Delta, Governor Obiano of Anambra State and Sports Minister.
President Jonathan also received a Plaque from Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Blessing Okagbare.

The President reassured Nigerians that his administration was determined to ensure that all sectors of national life were given the necessary motivation to achieve set goals.
