FG suspends FRC code to please VP Osinbajo, RCCG — MSSN leader

The National President of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Muhammad Jameel Muhammad, has said the removal of Jim Obazee as the Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and suspension of the council’s regulations may not be unconnected to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinbajo is a prominent pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

As part of the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, the Nigerian soldiers on Sunday released 257 suspected Boko Haram members who were in detention to the Borno State government.

The detainees – comprised of men, women and children – were released to the Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Durkwa, during a ceremony at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri.

A few days ago Gideon Okeke had said that Chiwetalu Agu‘s vulgarity in most of the films he is featured in, is unhealthy for children who would watch such movies.

Agu has now responded in an interview with Scoop Sunday and this is what he said:

“Anybody can say anything or come to whatever conclusion they please. The viewers would judge whether I use vulgar words in movies or not. People who watch movies are the ultimate judges. I do not even know who Gideon Okeke is; I do not think I have ever heard his name.

He thanked God and technology for making it possible for him to have an interactive session with the brave soldiers as well as those on UN tour of duty in Liberia. He praised and thanked them for the wonderful sacrifice they are making for our nation.

Corps member suffers spinal cord injury after road accident in Enugu (photos)

Corps member, Eze Ejike Godwin was involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in a spinal cord injury.

Godwin, who is serving in Kogi State, had traveled safely to his home state of Enugu during the yuletide period but later had an accident there while riding a motorcycle.

So sad!Mary Chiamaka Akajiobi, a 2014 Pharmacy graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi, Ghana, died in a ghastly motor accident along Abuja-Kaduna express road, on Tuesday, January 10th, just three days after her engagement (read here). She was aged 26. Until her death, late Miss Akajiobi was undergoing the compulsory one year National Youth Service programme in Kaduna State and was due to pass out in March. She was laid to rest on Saturday, January 14th, in her hometown, Umudunu, Awka-Etiti in Anambra State. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

A 16-year-old Senior Secondary student of Estgbam Montessori School, Mile 12, Lagos has emerged winner of the 2017 Miss Virginity Beauty Pageant held on January 13th, in Surulere Local Government Secretariat in Lagos.

Miss Dolapo Makunjuola was among the 37 contestants that took part in the 9th edition of the pageant organised exclusively for virgins between the ages of 16 years and above.

Tonto Dikeh's best friend and rapper, Shakar El made a post on Instagram on Friday which seemed like he was throwing shades at Tonto Dikeh over her alleged troubled marriage. A post which was wrongly timed read here. Shakar deleted the post when he realized the misconception caused by his post. In a new message he said:

The now 18-year-old, Kamiyah Mobley who was kidnapped from a Florida hospital as a baby has finally reunited with her biological parents, Shanara Mobley and Craig Aiken. Kamiyah lived in South Carolina as Alexis Manigo with the woman she believed was her mother, 51 year old Gloria Williams.
Kamiyah met with her biological parents on Saturday in South Carolina, 2 days after she learnt that the woman she thought was her real mother, actually kidnapped her as a child read here.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, donated building materials to support the resettlement and rehabilitation of victims of insurgency in Yobe State. Mrs. Buhari, who was represented by Hajiya Yabawa Kolo, delivered the materials which are to assist the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in reconstructing their shelters destroyed by insurgency.

US Army Veteran, Chuks Okebata assassinated in broad day light in Nigeria

It has been brought to our notice that a respected US Army Veteran Chuks Okebata was shot dead in an alleged case of 'broad day light assassination'.

President Muhammadu Buhari's Chief of Staff. Abba Kyari this afternoon summoned the MD of Arik Airline in Lagos after finding out the airline's passengers traveling to New York have been stranded for about 48 hours.
