Children and adults gunned down in Connecticut school massacre

 

I know you all have heard about the tragic event that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary school yesterday December 14th. 20 year old Adam Lanza (pictured below right) killed his mum at home and drove to the school in Newtown, Connecticut and opened fire on pupils and teachers, killing 26 people in all. 20 children between 5 to 10 years old and six adults, including the school principal; before killing himself.

Adam Lanza was dressed in black military gear and a bullet proof vest when he opened fire in the principal's office and then moved to a kindergarten classroom where his mother, Nancy, taught. The three guns (Glock and Sig Sauer revolvers and Bushmaster rifle) used in the shooting were legally purchased by Adam's mother, Nancy Lanza, whose body was found in the home she shared with Adam. This massacre is the worst involving little children in American history. How could something this horrible happen? Truly truly truly sad! Can't believe this guy went after defenseless little children. So heartbreaking. Our hearts go out to the mothers who lost their children and people who lost loved ones. May God bless the memory of all the victims.

Dj Neptune Marries Long Time Fiancee

Dj Neptune and his long time fiancee Ese, had their traditional wedding yesterday. Though Neptune didn't announce this and neither did Ese, they both took to twitter to express their joy.

‘This is the day that the Lord has made so I will rejoice and be GLAD!!!!‘ Neptune tweeted.

Ese followed suit with something very similar, ‘This is the Day the Lord has made and I will rejoice N be glad in it‘.

Congrats to both of them.

Senate Passes N161.6 billion Supplemetary Budget For Oil Subsidy

The Senate on Thursday, passed the supplementary appropriation bill of N161.6 billion.
The amount will serve as payment for fuel subsidy to oil marketers for 2012.
President Goodluck Jonathan had on Tuesday sent a request to the National Assembly to approve an additional N161.6 billion to ensure steady supply of petroleum products during the festive season.
Senate President, Sen. David Mark, however, decried the high level of corruption being perpetrated under the fuel subsidy scheme, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

I thought I was going to die – Stabbed singer

According to Punch

Tiwa Bankole, the singer who was allegedly stabbed by her landlord’s son, Tobi Obadina, has said she thought she was going to die.
According to her, Tobi constantly harasses tenants and gets away with it.
“When he was stabbing me, I started bleeding profusely and I thought I was going to die,” she said.
Bankole, who spoke with our correspondent on her hospital bed at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos on Thursday, said she did nothing to warrant the attack.

Nigerian woman, Franca Abumen, brutallly murdered in Rome

A 27 year old Nigerian woman, Franca Abumen, believed to be a commercial sex worker living in Rome, Italy, has met her untimely death in the hands of yet to be identified persons who brutally murdered her and dumped her body in the woods of Stifone, between Narni Waters, in Rome.

Franca's body was found 24 hours after she was murdered on Sunday December 9th after her friends reported her missing when she failed to return home from a night of work.

Franca was found in the woods with her ankles tied and a black cord around her neck. Police believe she was sexually assaulted and strangled. The police in Rome are investigating the case.

40-year-old Hla Htay Breastfeeds Bengal tiger cub

Two cubs, a male and a female, were taken from their mother at Yangon Zoological Gardens in Burma after she killed the third in her litter. The two are now being raised on bottled milk as well as Hla Htay's milk four times a day.

Ms Htay, the partner of an employee at the zoo, told local newspapers this week she felt sorry for the animals and offered her services, at least until the cubs grew teeth.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala's kidnapped mum has been freed

The 82-year old mother of the Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Kamene Okonjo, has been released five days after she was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from her home in Ogbe-Ofu quarters, Ogwashi -Uku, Aniocha south local government area of Delta state.

Dr Okonji-Iweala's spokesman confirmed her mother's release in a statement.

“I can confirm that Professor Mrs. Kamene Okonjo, wife of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Professor Chukuka Okonjo and mother of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy/Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was released this morning, five days after her abduction. The Okonjo Family is full of thanks to the Almighty for this happy development. Madam Okonjo's Kidnap Update: Kidnappers Demand N200m Ransom

According to Thisday, the kidnappers of the Finance Minister's mother have spoken to her eldest son. One of the demands they made was that, the minister should resign, but later changed their mind and said they should pay a ransom of N200m before the old woman would be released. It was also learnt that, Madam Iweala wanted to travel home, but the Delta State Government warned against that. We just hope all these would be sorted out soon.

I’ve been pregnant a handful of times. Once was a miscarriage. The others resulted in my family: four lovely healthy children for my husband and me. At my last check-up, my doctor asked me what my preferred method of birth control was. I told her my husband would be getting a vasectomy.

I’ve been saying that every year since our baby was born. And our baby is now four years old. The facts are simple: my husband and I are in our mid-forties, and we feel our family is complete. I am not interested in complicating my hormones at this stage by going on the pill, nor do I feel it is necessary for me to undergo surgery in order to have my tubes tied.
