Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime underwent a heart surgery in the United States of America in 2005, The PUNCH learnt on Tuesday.
This was two years before he contested the state governorship election in 2007.Some of his aides and a commissioner claimed that Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, who was governor of Enugu State at the time, was said to have financed the heart surgery and subsequent treatment.The aides, who craved anonymity so as not to be victimised, alleged that Nnamani gave Chime N7m for the surgery.
The aides, however, could not specify the heart-related disease that warranted the surgery.
One of aides, an Udi indigene where Chime also hails
from, said, “His (Chime) heart was very flat and when he complained to
Chima (Nnamani), he (Nnamani) had no option but to help a friend.”

Adeyemi Sowole, the co-pilot of the Navy helicopter which crashed on Saturday in Bayelsa State have expressed disappointment that authorities have only reckoned with the dignitaries that died on the flight.The co-pilot’s elder brother, Taiwo, said the government had not treated other victims as important as the two dignitaries – Gen. Kenneth, Nkiru and another yet to be identified passenger left a movie location in Owerri late Saturday night and were heading to another location when gunmen blocked Nkiru's car between Concorde Hotel and Cathedral Road in Owerri, and took all three passengers in the car.
Kenneth left Lagos two weeks ago to feature in the movie and was due back home sometime this week. The kidnappers are yet to make contact with Kenneth's family. Truly sad what is going on in our country.
