Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif win at Big Star Entertainment Awards

The ceremony, which is now in its third year, took place at Mumbai's Andheri Sports Complex on Sunday 16 December.

"Salman, SRK, Akshay Kumar, Imran, Abhishek Bachchan, John, Kareena, Priyanka, Anushka, Deepika and many more tonight at Big Star Entertainment Awards," said Anil Jha, Vice President of STAR India, prior to the event.

Khan and Kaif were recognised for their work in the late Yash Chopra's final release Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

"Got two awards, must admit, as many I get, the excitement is the same. Am so happy, want to work even harder. Awards to me are like candy to a kid," posted Khan on Twitter. He later added: "A thanx is in order for Anil Jha and the organisers for looking after me... the stage was gigantic!!!"

Kaif also won 'Best Actress in an Action Role' for Ek Tha Tiger, and 'Best Actress in a Romantic Role' for Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Deepika Padukone took home the 'Best Actress (Critics)' award for her performance in Cocktail.

Other winners at the event include Akshay Kumar, in Rowdy Rathore, for 'Best Actor in an Action Role'. The star's Oh My God: OMG picked up the trophy for 'Best Film (Social)', and Housefull 2 claimed the award for 'Best Comedy'.

Abhishek Bachchan scooped a prize for his work with filmmaker Rohit Shetty, writing: "Just won Best Actor - Comedy for Bol Bachchan at the Big Star entertainment awards!!!!"

The Big Star Entertainment Awards will be broadcast on STAR Plus on Friday, December 31 at 10pm.
