Gays have a right, open Nigerian bisexual Yemisi Ilesanmi speaks out

UK-based bisexual, Yemisi Ilesanmi, a single mother and an atheist, who has been fighting for the rights of gays for many years, recently granted an exclusive interview to TELL magazine where she spoke on issues surrounding homosexuality and its perception here in Nigeria.

Yemisi tells TELL:

Whether Nigerians accept it or not, LGBT rights are recognised human rights. Unless, you can prove that Lesbians, gays, biséxuals and transséxuals are not human beings, well, you have no reason to deny them their fundamental human rights. Unfortunately many Nigerians believe in the concept of sin. First, we must understand that sin is a religious concept. Not every Nigerian is religious. Your religion is also a personal matter, why drag other people into your personal relationship with Jesus, Mohamed or Obatala?

When I am told that homoséxuality is a sin, I just tell them their religion is not my law. The Bible or Quran is not my constitution, so why is that even coming up?

Dubai: Janet Jackson seems to be settling into her new role as a dutiful Qatari wife. The pop star was spotted in Dubai on Thursday shopping for abayas at Village Mall along the Jumeirah Beach Road.

According to Gulf News reader Pylene, Jackson, who married Qatari business tycoon Wissam Al Mana last year, walked into abaya boutique Toushih at around four in the afternoon. “She was talking to the shop attendants and picking some of the clothes. She had a companion, another woman, who was dressed in an abaya.”

A person who was present at the store confirmed to that the visitor was indeed Jackson.

Borno government planning to demolish 20 churches and Christian schools in the state

The Borno State government are planning to demolish at least 20 churches and christian schools in Maiduguri after acquiring land they say they want to use for a 1000-unit housing estate.

Demolition notice has been served to the present occupants of the acquired land, which includes owners of farmlands and several churches and schools built by churches. The state government have already dispatched a notice to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN)

Some people feel like the government isn't really planning to build any housing estate, just looking for an excuse to destroy the churches and private schools, with the alleged grand plan of gradually islamising the state as part of an alleged wider plan to Islamise the northern part of Nigeria.

8 year old child bride dies from injuries after wedding night sex with 40 year old husband

An eight-year-old child bride has died in Yemen of internal bleeding sustained during her wedding night after being forced to marry a man five times her age, activists have claimed.

The girl, identified only as Rawan, died in the tribal area of Hardh in northwestern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia. Activists are now calling for the groom, who is believed to be around 40 years old, and her family to be arrested so they can face justice in the courts.

2-year-old toddler walked out of nursery all the way home after school door was left open

Amazing! A 2 year old girl Louise Hilton walked half a mile (15 mins walk) to her home after the doorman at her nursery school left the door open.

According to reports, that was her 2nd day in that school as the walked to-and -fro school on the first day with her mum.
