Bride set ablaze and killed by groom after she slept with ex-lover on wedding night

A bride was doused with alcohol and set on fire by her new husband after she slept with an ex-lover on her wedding night, police say.

Mother-of-one Veronika Filippova had sought out her former partner after her new spouse fell asleep drunk at their wedding reception. The 27-year-old had 80% burns on her body and died despite frantic efforts by doctors to save her.

Mother of one, actress Grace Amah, says being single does not make her a single mother. Grace, who has never revealed the father of her 3 year old son, says as long as she and her baby daddy are taking care of their son, she's not a single parent. Grace made this statement in a recent interview with Yes! magazine.

"I hate when people refer to me as a single parent. That I am not married does not make me a single parent. The father of my son and myself are taking very good care of my son. So does that make me a single parent? No it doesn't" she said

Grace also denied long standing rumours that she had her son for a married man, hence the secrecy, revealing that when she's ready to get married, she will marry the father of her son.

"I'm not married yet. When I get married, obviously, its going to be the father of my son"

Pope Francis has suggested that he might one day resign the papacy like his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI did last year, which would make him the second consecutive Pope to do so after almost 600 years. He said this yesterday Aug. 18th while speaking with reporters on his way back to Rome after his state visit to South Korea.

"Some theologians may say this is not right, but I think this way. Let us think about what [Benedict XVI] said, "I have gotten old, I do not have the strength", it was a beautiful gesture of nobility, of humility and courage. But you could say to me, if you at some time felt you could not go forward, I would do the same."

Asked about his immense popularity, the Pope, 77, joked that he would probably die in the next 2/3 years so should not get too proud:

“I know this will last a short time, two or three years, and then to the house of the Father.” he said

Four more Ebola patients discharged – Health Minister

Four more patients have been certified clean and discharged from the Ebola Isolation center in Lagos after undergoing treatment for the deadly disease. The four patients include two male doctors, the nurse who had earlier escaped from the isolation center and ran to Enugu and a female patient who was on admission at the time Patrick Sawyer was hospitalized at the First Consultant Hospital.

The news of their discharge was disclosed in a statement released today by the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu and signed by his his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Mr. Dan Nwomeh. Read parts of the statement after the cut...

EFCC Arrests Four Bankers For ATM Fraud

 "Four bankers: Mansur Danlami, Ejiro Eborikpo, Nina Stephen and Samson Nwodo have been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for conspiracy to steal the sum of N5, 100, 000 (Five Million One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from a customer’s account....

The suspects, all staff of Zoo Road Branch of First Bank Plc allegedly conspired among themselves to issue ATM card to an impostor, in the name of Samuel Omede, a bona fide customer of the Bank in Bayelsa State.

After the issuance of the purported ATM card, the impostor used the card to steal N5, 100, 000 (Five Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from Samuel Omede’s account.

The suspects are still being interrogated in the Kano Zonal office of the EFCC and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded

Ebola: Nano Silver Fails Health Requirements - Health Minister

The U.S already warned that experimental drug Nanosilver is a pesticide...and now Nigerian Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu says the drug, developed by a Nigerian in diaspora, has failed health requirements and will not be used on Ebola patients in Nigeria.

The minister said this today August 18th while receiving the US Ambassador, Mr James Entwistle, in his office in Abuja.

"The experimental drug, Nano Silver did not meet the requirements of the National Health Research Ethics Code. Accordingly, the approval was withheld by the National Health Research Ethics Committee,” Chukwu said.

It looks like former friends actress Tonto Dikeh and fashion stylist Toyin Lawani are no longer in good terms and they have taken to social media to subtly come at each other.

So here's what happened. Two weeks ago Tonto Dikeh posted a throwback photo of herself dressed in a sequin gold dress and gave styling credit to her stylist and friend, Swanky Jerry Ogbodo. Toyin Lawani saw that particular post yesterday and got mad because according to her, she was the one who styled Tonto and not Swanky. Breaking News: First Ebola Patient discharged in Lagos

The first Nigerian Ebola Virus Disease patient to be discharged from quarantine was today declared fit and given the nod to go home in Lagos State.

The Minster of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said five of those undergoing treatment have almost recovered. He told the media, the patient, a female doctor was discharged today. He however did not reveal her name.
