DSS detains Goodluck Jonathan's Chief Security Officer
There are reports that the DSS has detained the Chief Security Officer to former President Jonathan, Gordon Obua. According to a report by Punch, Obua was arrested and detained on Thursday July 16 as part of measures by the new administration to probe officials who worked under GEJ’s. The order for his arrest was given by President Buhari.
The reason for the detention of the former CSO is not immediately known but a source told Punch that investigators maybe trying to gather info on key officials in Jonathan’s government from Obua

DSS explains why it raided Sambo Dasuki’s homes, says it impounded 12 cars, assault riffles
The Department of State Security Service, has explained why it raided the home of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and why he was also detained. Below is a statement they released, signed by Tony Opuiyo, explaining their side of things.
"On 16th July, 2015, about 1650 hours, based on credible intelligence linking the immediate past NSA, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (Col Rtd) with alleged plans to commit treasonable felony against the Nigerian State, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) conducted a search on the properties belonging to the former NSA, Mohammed Sambo DASUKI (Col Rtd). The properties are on Nos. 13, John Khadya Street, Nos. 46, Nelson Mandela Street, both at Asokoro, Abuja, and Nos. 3 Sabon Birni Road, Gwiwa Area, Sokoto, Sokoto State.

In an interview with Sahara TV on Saturday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated that Buhari would be fair to all. He also called for patience and reassured Nigerians that the President still has over 6,000 appointments to make.

Fifth victim from the Chattanooga terror attack dies
U.S. Navy sailor has succumbed to injuries sustained in this week's deadly Tennessee rampage, bringing the death toll from the shooting to five. The U.S. Navy did not immediately release the name of the sailor. South Africa returns $15m seized for the purchase of arms to Nigerian govt
There are claims that the $15 million seized by the South African Govt. in 2014 that was meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian military has been returned to the Nigerian government.
The sum of $9.3 million was seized by the South African authorities on September 5, 2014 and another $5.7 million was seized later in a transaction involving Societe D’ Equipments Internationale of Nigeria and Cereberus Risk Solutions, a South African arms company.
