National Assembly send details of the 2016 budget to Buhari

The National Assembly says it has submitted the details of the 2016 budget to the clerk of the Assembly who will immediately forward the documents to President Buhari for scrutiny and his assent. Chairmen of the Appropriation committee of the senate and House of Representatives, ‎Sen. Danjuma Goje and Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, in a joint statement released yesterday, disclosed the recent development.

A man simply identified as Shabi and his two daughters, 18 year old Mistura and 16 year old Adura, were burnt to death after some Jerry cans of petrol stored at their home in 5 Adebiyi Street, Somolu Oja in Lagos exploded on Monday night.

At the continuation of Senate President Bukola Saraki's trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal yesterday April 6th,  Michael Wetkas, a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who started testifying against Saraki two days ago, told the court yesterday of how he, Saraki, was still collecting monthly salaries from the coffers of the state governor four years after leaving office.
The Cable reports that bank statements from Access bank showed that he collected the money from the state
"In the course of our investigation, we wrote to Access Bank for them to give us details of the salary account of the defendant. The salary that was coming into the account was N254, 212 as of 1 August 2007.

FYI Network pulls the plug on Kocktails with Khloe, the reality star responds

TMZ earlier reported that FYI Network has pulled the plug Kocktails with Khloe. The show, which features Khloe Kardashian, drinks made by the beautiful Sharone premiered in late January.

Sources tell TMZ that the network is labeling the move as an "indefinite hold," which basically means the end. The site adds that Khloé wanted to focus on her other jobs and had no interest in shooting Season 2, despite aprevious announcement that FYI had ordered 15 more episodes of Kocktails shortly after the premiere.

Yesterday Pope Francis met Elizabeth "Lizzy" Myers, a five-year-old American girl who does not know she is gradually going blind from a rare genetic disease, Usher syndrome.  Her parents are trying to get her to see as many things as she can, including meeting the Pope.

President Buhari to visit China next week

President Muhammadu Buhari will pay a state visit to China between Monday to Friday next week at the invitation of Chinese President, Xi Jinping. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang, announced this at a press conference yesterday April 6th
“China and Nigeria enjoy a traditional friendship. This year marks the 45th anniversary of China-Nigeria diplomatic ties. During the visit, President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Buhari, and Premier Li Keqiang and top legislator Zhang Dejiang will have separate meetings with him, exchanging views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern. ‎

NLC set to declare one day nationwide strike over electricity and fuel

Leadership of the Nigeria Labor Congress NLC say they will soon be organizing a one-day warning strike over the lingering fuel scarcity ‎and the refusal of the Federal government to reduce electricity tariff. NLC President Ayuba Wabba disclosed this while speaking with newsmen during the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the congress in Abuja today April 6th. No date has been set aside for the proposed strike.

President Buhari Bans ministers and top govt officials from flying first class on official trips

In the face of the financial crisis being experienced in the country presently, President Buhari has banned all ministers and all top government officials from flying first class while embarking on officials trips. The directive is contained in a statement released by Festus Akanbi, media adviser to Kemi Adeosun, Minister of finance, yesterday April 6th.

‎The Federal Government in the statement said permanent secretaries, chairmen of federal government committees, chairmen and chief executives of parastatals and agencies are to travel on business class.

CCT Trial: Senators advise Bukola Saraki to resign

As his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal commenced yesterday April 5th, some senators have advised Senator Bukola Saraki to resign his appointment as the Senate President before he is disgraced out of office. This advise comes as the number of senators who escorted him to the CCT trial dropped to 23 yesterday April 5th. When the trial initially started, 81 senators followed him to the tribunal.

Jordan Schaeffer was on March 14th brutally attacked and beaten to a pulp by a man for kissing his boyfriend in a Miami Beach Burger King. The man who attacked him has not been found.

Jordan told NBC Miami that after they ordered their food at the restaurant, he and his boyfriend shared a little PDA while they waited for their order.
