Former Super Eagles player, Efe Sodje and his brothers charged with fraud in the UK (photos)

Former Nigerian Super Eagles World Cup star, Efetobore Sodje and his brothers have been charged with fraud offences after an investigation by the National Crime Agency, UK.

Efetobore Sodje, 34, Bright Sodje, 50, Samuel Sodje, 37, and Stephen Sodje, 42, were charged with fraudulent trading on Friday 21 October and bailed until 14 November 2016, when they will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Niger Delta Avengers blow up Chevron Escravos export pipeline in Delta

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) today destroyed a Chevron offshore export pipeline at Escravos, Warri South-West LGA in Delta State. The militant group which operates from the Niger Delta region, said the attack on the oil company’s pipeline is to further warn all IOCs’ that they shouldn't repair damaged pipelines until they negotiate/dialogue with the people of Niger Delta

'I believe we're winning in polls, don't believe the media' - Donald Trump

Donald Trump  on Monday told a crowd of supporters in Florida that he is in the leading the White House race in polls, telling them to forget reports by the main stream media such as CNN who in a recent poll said Clinton was passing Trump by 5% among likely voters.

"Some great polls have just come out. I believe we're actually winning," Trump said, while slamming the mainstream media.

Judges to declare assets before and after delivering judgment - NJC

As part of efforts to address the alleged corrupt practices of some judges in the judiciary, the National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday issued a directive to all judges presiding in “sensitive and highly visible trials such as election petition proceedings” to declare their assets before they begin proceedings on such cases and immediately after they give judgement on such cases.

This directive will be reflected in the new code of conduct for judicial officers which is currently being reviewed by a 10-man Judicial Ethics Committee set up by NJC.

EFCC denies that Fani-Kayode slumped in their office

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, has denied claims that former Minister of Aviation and spokesperson to former President Goodkuck Jonathan’s campaign Organisation, Femi Fani- Kayode, slumped at their premises yesterday. Speaking with Vanguard, Uwujaren said there was no truth whatsoever in the report
“There is no truth whatsoever in the dubious and attention-seeking alarm that Fani-Kayode slumped and was revived by EFCC medical personnel. There was nothing like that as the said Fani-kayode and Obanikoro sat together and enjoyed their jokes at the first round of checks of inmates in EFCC custody on Monday night"he said.

NNPC: Sale of petrol at N145 per litre is no longer sustainable

The Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, has said that the sale of petrol at N145 per litre is no longer sustaining due to the current economic recession. Kyari stated this while speaking at the 10th Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Week in Lagos.

'I don't believe Sambo Dasuki stole $2.2 billion' - GEJ

While responding to questions after his lecture at Oxford University yesterday, Former President Goodluck Jonathan, said he does not believe Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, can "steal" $2.2 billion as he is being accused of by the EFCC. Responding to a question on Dasuki, Jonathan said
“They said the National Security Adviser stole $2.2billion. I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion. We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things?

Woman sues KFC for $20M over false advertising

A New York grandmother says she spent $20 for a bucket of chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) last summer and was disappointed when she didn't get what was advertised. She said:
“I came home and said, “Where’s the chicken?’ ” Anna Wurtzburger said.  “I thought I was going to have a couple of meals.” She claimed that KFC's advert showed a “bucket that’s overflowing with chicken,” which was what she expected.

Family runs around to raise N100 million for Obanikoro’s bail

The family and associates of the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, are intensifying efforts to raise N100 million to release him from the detention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

A source said the family had taken a decision that the former minister would not spend another week in the detention facility of the commission.

Police reportedly recover 19 cars, SUVs from former IG, Solomon Arase

A Special Investigation Panel instituted by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has reportedly recovered 19 police vehicles from former IG, Solomon Arase.

According to Sahara Reporters, some of the vehicles include assorted sedans, Sports Utility Vehicles and pick-up vans.

Presidency insists judges must step down for trial

The Presidency is insisting that two Supreme Court Justices and four others must step aside ahead of their trial for alleged corruption, The Nation learnt last night.

Photos & video: Actor Leo Mezie speaks from hospital bed in London, thanks Nollywood and Nigerians

Exactly four months ago, word got out that the good-looking Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie, was down with kidney related disease. The news of his ailment was broken barely a month after popular music producer, OJB Jezreel, passed on. The latter died three years after he underwent a kidney transplant.

Leo shared his account details and welcomed contributions towards treating his ailment and his colleagues rallied round to raise the N10 million he needed to undergo a kidney transplant. But they were only able to raise N1.2m one month, a far cry for the total sum required.
