Prince William moves into old childhood home with family after quitting air ambulance job

Prince William is moving his family back to his childhood home of Kensington Palace after quitting his air ambulance job to become a full-time royal, it has been announced. From the autumn the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be spending increasing amounts of time in their six-bedroom apartment at Princess Diana's former London residence.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will also go to school and nursery in the capital as William and Kate step up their royal duties to support the 90-year-old Queen.

Vegetable market bomb kills at least 20 people in Pakistan

At least 20 people have been killed and 40 wounded after a bomb exploded at a vegetable market in northwest Pakistan. The blast happened in the city of Parachinar, a mainly Shia Muslim area on the Afghan border. The market was full of shoppers when the device exploded. Officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

A faction of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) said it was behind the blast, adding its goal was "to avenge the killing of our associates".

President Adama Barrow confirms Jammeh’s acceptance to step down

 

Yahya Jammeh, who for weeks had refused to step down after losing the recent election, has confirmed that he has decided to relinquish power.

Yahya Jammeh pleads for more time to handover as troops close in

The Gambia's defeated President Yahya Jammeh has asked for a deadline for him to leave office or be forced out by UN-backed forces to be extended until 4 pm on Friday.
The earlier deadline of noon passed as the Guinean and Mauritanian presidents arrived in Banjul for last-ditch talks.

Mr Jammeh's elected successor, Adama Barrow, was sworn in as president at a ceremony in Senegal on Thursday.
