Egyptian president awards $85,000 bonus to each national team player for qualifying for Russia 2018

Egypt is still in a joyous mood following their qualification this weekend for next year's world cup in Russia, their first in almost 27 years.

Egypt's President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has now given a bonus of $85,000 (£65,000) to each of the players who clinched a place at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

Two Policemen and One Naval officer arrested for attempted kidnap of a 5-year-old boy

Two serving policemen alongside a naval personnel and three other suspects have been arrested for attempting to kidnap a five-year-old boy at Ayangba, Kogi state and they were among 18 kidnap and armed robbery suspects paraded before journalists at the Kogi state Police Command on Monday. 

Ali Janga, the state’s Commissioner of Police at the parade in Lokoja, identified the policemen as Cpl Suleiman Isiaka and Cpl Ibrahim James while the naval personnel was Ordinary Seaman Bature Habila of the Western Naval Command.

According to her, she recently fell ill and was to use the hospital meant for all the people living in the villa but was shocked at the state of affairs there. According to her, the hospital lacked basic items such as a syringe.

Iceland becomes the smallest nation to qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup

On Monday, Iceland qualified for their first-ever FIFA World Cup and with a population of just 330,000 people, they'll become the least populous country to compete at the global finals. 

They secured their World Cup spot with a 2-0 win over Kosovo in Reykjavik, rounding off a memorable campaign that has seen them edge out the likes of Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey.

Yesterday, NNPC Boss, Maikanti Baru, reacted to the petition written by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, against him, to President Buhari. Kachikwu had accused Baru of insubordination and awarding contracts without his approval. In a statement released yesterday, Maikanti said he is not under any law to seek approval from Kachikwu before awarding any contract. Read here.

American rapper Kodak Black indicted for alleged rape of teenage girl

20 year old rapper, Kodak Black has been indicted by a grand jury in South Carolina for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in February 2016.

Kodak Black whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was on Monday, indicted by a grand jury in Florence County, of first-degree criminal sexual assault, according to TMZ.

A man accused of marrying his stepdaughter when she was only 12-years-old, then holding her prisoner and repeatedly raping her for 19-years and having nine children by her, has been arrested in Mexico and extradited to the US.

Henri Michele Piette, 62, has been charged with first-degree rape and other offences by authorities in Oklahoma after his step-daughter, Rosalynn McGinnis, now 33, made her way to the US embassy in Mexico and reported the atrocities done to her by Piette.

Fifteen Kebbi state worshipers drown in River Niger

Fifteen people have been confirmed dead in a boat mishap that occurred in the River Niger at Yauri area of Kebbi State.

The Area Manger, National Inland Waterways Authority in charge of Yauri, Malam Bissallah Abubakar confirmed the incident to Daily Trust,  said 19 of the victims of the boat mishap were rescued from the water while four others were still missing.

A shocking video of a Nigerian student being thrashed in Malviya Nagar, India for allegedly committing theft, has gone viral.

The video clip shows the student simply identified as Ahmed, tied to a pole and his feet were tied as well. He was flogged with sticks by several goons.

Armed robbers cut barb wires, burglary proof to rob a home in Delta state

Six armed robbers in the early hours of today robbed a home located on Redeem street opposite New Era in Asaba, Delta state. According to Facebook user, Harisson Gwamnishu who shared the photos, the robbers who were unable to open the main gate leading to the compound, cut the barbed wire and jumped inside the compound and went straight to the gateman who they used an Axe on. They then tied him up.  To gain entrance into the house, the robbers also cut the burglary proof. They stole money, laptops, phones and pieces of jewelry.

Thankfully the GRA Police Station was quick to respond to the distress call of the victims.

The women who were pictured with swollen faces and bandages around their head were recovering from the operations.
