Lawyer says 'FG will produce Nnamdi Kanu in court today'

The resumed hearing on the treason charges filed against the leader of the banned secessionist group, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and three others, by the Federal government is expected to hold today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Counsel to Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, says the Federal government will bring Kanu from where they have been hiding him since the invasion of his home in Umuahia by military officers on September 14th.

Hurricane Ophelia kills three and leaves 360,000 without power in Ireland

On Monday, Ireland was hit by Hurricane Orphelia in what officials called an "unprecedented storm" that left three people dead, more than 300,000 customers without power and shut down schools as well as government offices. 

A police spokesman said one woman in her 50s was killed outside the village of Aglish, near the south coast, when a tree fell on her car. A female passenger in her 70s suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Female student of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina, dies hours after being bitten by snake

Zainab Umar, an Economics student of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina died from snake poisoning in the early hours of Sunday. Zainab was bitten by a dangerous snake on her way to the school Library on Sunday, October 15.

She has been buried according to the Islamic teachings at her family residence.

Recovering Monkeypox patient commits suicide at quarantine center in Bayelsa state

One of the patients receiving medical care for 'Monkey Pox' at the quarantine centre in Bayelsa state has committed suicide, the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, has said. Addressing a press conference in Yenagoa, he said the deceased was among the 21 suspected cases of 'MonkeyPox' that were being managed at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH).

Etebu was joined by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Medical Director of the NDUH and other senior health officials.

'No case of Monkeypox virus in Lagos' - Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole

Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, says all the Monkey Pox samples obtained from Lagos and subjected to laboratory examination tested negative. Adewole broke the news at a press conference in Abuja today. According to him, three cases of the viral disease have been confirmed in Bayelsa.

“As of October 13, 2017, there were 17 SUSPECTED cases reported from Yenagoa LGA in Bayelsa State. We have received laboratory confirmation for Monkeypox virus from three of these cases from the WHO Regional Laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. Samples from 12 other cases from Bayelsa were negative.
