U.S. judge orders Donald Trump administration to allow abortion for teenage girl who is in the US illegally

A federal judge, Tanya Chutkan, on Wednesday ordered the U.S. government to allow an illegal immigrant 17 year old pregnant teenager in its custody, to have an abortion per her request.

Lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU, which represents the pregnant teenager, praised the judge’s ruling as a major victory for abortion and immigrant rights.

Tunisia jails couple for public indecency, after they were caught naked in their car

A couple have been sentenced to several months in prison in Tunisia after they were caught naked in their car. Nassim Ouadi, a 33-year-old French-Algerian, and his 44-year-old Tunisian girlfriend were sentenced on Wednesday by a judge at the Carthage district court, having been convicted of public indecency, intoxication and insulting a public official.

According to their lawyer, Ghazi Mrabet, the couple were driving last Friday when they pulled over in Gammarth, a suburb of the capital, Tunis, to discuss the route.

President Buhari Muhammadu approves pension payment to Biafra war veterans

President Buhari has approved payment of pension to soldiers, policemen and paramilitary officers, who were involved in the Biafra war  The veterans were dismissed from service for participating in the war, which lasted between 1967 and 1970. 

In a statement on Wednesday, the Pensions Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) announced that payment will commence on Friday, October 20, in Enugu state.

INEC to recruit one million ad hoc workers for 2019 general elections

Prof. Mahmud Yakub, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) told the Senate Committee on INEC  yesterday that the commission would recruit about one million ad hoc members of staff for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

According to him, the ad hoc workers to be deployed for the polls, which will begin in 484 days, will be about 300k higher than the 700k engaged for the 2015 general elections.

Seven former employees of Nigerian Airways die in one week while waiting for their pension

At least seven former workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways died in the last one week while awaiting their severance package from the Federal Government. 

Chairman, Elders Forum of the defunct Nigeria Airways, Mr. Godwin Jibodu, said the pensioners died in abject poverty despite having served the nation well.  He listed names of the deceased persons as Capt. Asuquo, Capt. Akintaju, Capt. Tunde Akinyosade, Capt. Sam Ohioma, and Mr. K. C.  Amah while Mr. T. Bellgam and Mr. Ebenezer Akinbode were down with stroke.

The general overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, says the black man has failed to task his intellectual faculty towards innovation and preferring solutions beneficial to his environment.

He spoke at the 54th meeting of the committee of deans of postgraduate schools (CDPGS) in Nigerian Universities at the Covenant University (CU) Ogun state, where he said the black man’s greatest challenge is not intellectual bankruptcy but laziness.

On Tuesday the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of PDP, Ahmed Makarfi, paid former president Olusegun Obasanjo, a visit in Abeokuta, Ogun state. After the visit, Obasanjo was asked by journalists if the meeting was centered on him returning to the party whose membership card he tore in February 2015. Replying the journalists, Obasanjo said he will never return to PDP as a dog doesn't go back to it's vomit.

Lol! This little girl was supposed to be a flower girl, but 'napping is life'

Six-month-old Rugbie was made flower girl for her aunt’s wedding, but when it was time for her to walk down the aisle with the flower, sleep came. Lol. Her father Joe Morman shared the hilarious story on Reddit.
“My daughter was supposed to be a flower girl in her aunts wedding but napping is life. (She is safely strapped in),” Morman captioned the post.

17 year old girl drugged, raped and impregnated by her sister's boyfriend in Lagos state

17-year-old Ogechukwu, pictured right, accused her sister's boyfriend of raping her and getting her pregnant sometime in April this year. Ogechukwu's plight was brought to the public by the president of Behind Bars Initiative, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu.

Ogechukwu moved to Lagos last year to live with her sister in the Ojo area of the state. Ogechukwu's sister sells clothes but also pimps girls for some men in the area.

Frank Ocean wins $14.5m defamation lawsuit against his father

Singer, Frank Ocean has won the libel lawsuit filed against him by his father, Calvin Cooksey, for calling him a bigot. According to TMZ, the singer's dad, Calvin Cooksey, sued him for $14.5 million in damages, claiming Frank defamed him with a social media post recalling a story from his childhood.

Frank said his pop had called a transgender waitress "a f****t,' but judge heard the case in L.A. Tuesday, and ruled in favor of Frank, saying Cooksey failed to prove his son had defamed him at all.

Frank's attorney told TMZ, "It was a sad case, but we are glad that it ended in Frank's favor and that it is over."

Grace Mugabe sues Lebanese businessman for failing to deliver the $1.35 million diamond ring she ordered

Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Grace Mugabe is suing a Lebanese businessman for failing to deliver a $1.35m (£1m) diamond ring. According to the country’s state-run Herald newspaper, Jamal Ahmed is said to have provided Mrs Mugabe with a ring worth $30,000 instead of the one she ordered.

It is the latest in the legal saga over the 100-carat ring that was meant to be President Robert Mugabe’s present to his wife for their 20th wedding anniversary.

Child Custody: Atiku Abubakar's son remanded for contempt of court

Aminu Abubakar, son of a former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku has been remanded in jail by a Magistarte court in Lagos for disobeying a court order. Aminu was remanded in jail by Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye for failing to produce his son, seven-year-old Amir Atiku in court today (Wednesday).
