Teenager who killed 50 at Adamawa mosque is a victim not a suicide bomber - Executive Director, Human Rights Watch

The Executive Director, Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth has said that the 17-year-old Boko Haram suicide bomber who attacked a mosque in Adamawa State,  is equally a victim. Sharing a Guardian UK report on the incident, Roth said:

"When a teenager is Boko Haram's vehicle, we should add him to the murder victims, not speak of a "suicide" bomber. "

Mugabe will attend Emmerson Mnangagwa's inauguration tomorrow

According to state broadcaster ZBC TV, Robert Mugabe is expected at tomorrow's inauguration of the new Zimbabwean president, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Already, preparations are under way at the National Sports Stadium in the capital Harare where the event is to be held.

The outgoing head of state is expected to inspect the parade to say goodbye while the incoming head of state will introduce himself to the parade.

Yesterday, the federal government disclosed that Nigeria lost a whopping N3.23trillion ($9billion) to the export of proceeds of illegal mining activities between 2014 and 2015.

Making this disclosure at the end of weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was held in the conference room of the Office of the First Lady in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said the $9 billion loss in the sector was contained in a recent report by the Nigeria Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

Nigerian female medical doctor recounts how she became conscious during surgery due to anesthetic failure

A Nigerian female medical doctor has narrated the story of how her anesthesia failed, causing her to wake up during surgery, but because she had also been given muscle relaxants, she couldn't move let alone tell doctors that she was conscious, and as such, she was forced to endure the excruciating pain for over 3 hours as her body was cut open and stitched back.

Photos/Video: Aggrieved mother kills herself by jumping into a river because her son's fiancée is 'too short'

An aggrieved mother in China who wasn't happy with her son's fiancée because she was too short, has allegedly committed suicide. The 47-year-old woman's corpse was found on November 17 in a river in Ningling County, Henan Province.

Her emotional husband, Mr. Gao, 46, after seeing his wife's remains, jumped into the river and his son also plunged in to save him. Both were immediately rescued by the police.

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro to defect from PDP to APC this weekend

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will be officially defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) this weekend. He confirmed this in an interview with Channels TV.

Obanikoro, who is currently being investigated for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of $2.1 arms fund, was a minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and was in the running for the Lagos state governorship seat in 2015 but lost the ticket to Jimi Agbaje.

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded three suspected ritualists in possession of two fresh human heads and legs. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, during the parade, disclosed that the suspects were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Command on November 11, following a tip-off by a member of the public.

Odude added that the suspects confessed to have severed the body parts from corpses at a Muslim cemetery, in Isale General Area of Ogbomoso.

The Police in Abuja has explained why it cannot remand Maryam Sanda, the wife of Bilyaminu Bello, son of ex-PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, who she allegedly stabbed to death during a fight at their Abuja residence last Sunday.

According to the spokesperson of the FCT police command, Anjuguri Manzah, Maryam cannot be remanded in prison because she is a nursing mother of a six-month-old daughter.

Mugabe was granted immunity from prosecution as part of his resignation deal

According to Reuters, Zimbabwe’s former president Robert Mugabe was granted immunity from prosecution and assured that his safety would be protected in his home country as part of a deal that led to his resignation.

Mugabe who led Zimbabwe from independence in 1980 stepped down on Tuesday after the army seized power and the ruling party turned against him and Emmerson Mnangagwa, the former vice president, is set to be sworn in as president on Friday.
