Court rejects EFCC’s bid to seize $8.4m, N7.35bn linked to Patience Jonathan

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday rejected an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seeking the temporary forfeiture of funds in 15 bank accounts linked to Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

The funds, which the EFCC sought to seize, include a total of $8,435,788.84 and over N7.35bn kept in 15 bank accounts opened in the name of Patience, five companies and one Esther Oba.

The FG has recovered N7.8bn, $378m, £27,880 from whistleblowers - Kemi Adeosun says

The Federal Government yesterday said it recovered a total of N7.8 billion, $378 million, and 27,000 pounds through the whistle-blower policy. The whistle-blower policy was introduced sometime in 2016, to enable persons with information on looted funds, to disclose same to authorities, with rewards and protection.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, made the disclosure in Abuja, at an evaluation workshop organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC).

A Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida ‏with links to the Islamist group Boko Haram has claimed only 15 out of the 112 missing Chibok girls are still alive. 

Ahmad Salkida said he had negotiated for the release of the girls on behalf of the government. Several opportunities to have them released were missed, Salikda said.

16-year-old student dies after being trapped in the seat of his minivan; he called 911 to say "Tell my mom that I love her

A teenage high school student has died after being trapped in the seat of his minivan in Cincinnati. Kyle Plush called 911, aware that his situation was dire after he became stuck. The 16-year-old sophomore used an automated assistant on his smartphone to make the call Tuesday outside Seven Hills School in Cincinnati. He did not tell the authorities what had happened to him. He said only that he was trapped in his minivan and could not hear them but he hoped they could hear his cries for help.

"Help, help, help, help," he told the dispatcher, according to 911 audio obtained by The Washington Post. Then he let out a scream: "Help!"
