Drinking lemon water every morning is good for you

One of the best healthy habits to embrace in 2017 is to start off your day with a glass of warm lemon water. Do this daily before your morning exercise routine or breakfast and you’ll soon begin to appreciate the benefits. Just squeeze 1/2 a lemon with each glass and drink it down daily. The water should be lukewarm not scalding hot. Avoid ice cold water and only use fresh lemons, not bottled lemon juice.

The first benefit of drinking lemon water is that it aids digestion. Lemon juice is also a liver cleanser, it flushes out unwanted materials and toxins. It encourages the liver to produce bile required for digestion, helping to relieve indigestion such as heartburn. Lemon water cleanses the urinary system because it acts as a diuretic and increases the rate of urination in the body. Toxins are released at a faster rate which helps keep the urinary tract healthy.

Another advantage of lemon water is that it boosts the immune system. Lemons are high in vitamin C, which has strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting properties. It helps in management of asthma and other respiratory symptoms, and enhances iron absorption in the body; iron plays an important role in immune function. Lemons help control blood pressure because they are high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Although acidic on their own, inside the body, lemons are alkaline and drinking lemon water regularly can help to remove overall acidity in the body, including uric acid in the joints, which is one of the primary causes of pain and inflammation. Drink lemon water if you desire clear skin, because the vitamin C and other antioxidants helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes and to combat free radical damage.

Lemon energises the body, brightens mood, helps clear the mind, and also help reduce anxiety and depression. Lemon water promotes healing and is an essential nutrient in the maintenance of healthy bones, connective tissue, and cartilage. It freshens breath, helps relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. Take note not to brush your teeth just after drinking lemon water. It is best to brush your teeth first, tor wait some time after to brush your teeth. Warm water and lemon juice supports the immune system by hydrating and replacing fluids lost by your body. Lemons are high in pectin fibre, which helps fight hunger cravings, hence they aid weight loss.
