A middle-aged man, Akilu Alhaji Saidu, has been arrested by the police in Katsina state for killing his three-year-old stepdaughter. The spokesperson of the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, said the suspect after his arrest, confessed that he dragged the deceased to an uncompleted building in Yankara Village of Faskari Local government on September 17th and then twisted and broke her neck.
The suspect alleged that he committed the crime under the influence of psychotropic substances (drugs that are capable of affecting the mind). The victim was rushed to the Funtua general hospital where she was confirmed dead.
“The suspect took the deceased victim to an uncompleted building in the village, severely beat up the girl, she sustained various injuries before twisting and breaking her neck,” the police spokesperson said.
The police spokesperson says the suspect would soon be charged to court.
