"President Buhari’s health is a private matter even if the government is paying for it" Says Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said that the health status of president Buhari is a private matter and any information regarding it cannot be divulged by anyone even if the state (government) is paying for his medical care. According to him, President Buhari is under no obligation to disclose his health status. Recall that President Buhari returned from the UK in August after a long stay for medical care for an undisclosed ailment.

Lai Mohammed had an interview with AFP today where he was asked why the health status of president Buhari has not been made public

"It’s not strange at all for a sitting president to be ill and it’s not strange either for the state to take care of his medical bill. I think there’s so much speculation as to what he’s been treated for. I think we would rather respect his privacy. If Mr President feels like telling the world his ailment, so be it. I don’t think he’s under an obligation to tell anyone.” he said
