President Buhari has endorsed plans by the Kaduna state government to sack of 21, 780 teachers that failed the competency test conducted in October this year. The teachers failed woefully in the primary four test questions set for them during the competency test. There has been a public outcry after the state government indicated that it would be dismissing the teachers that failed the competency test.
However, speaking at a special retreat of the Federal Executive Council FEC on the challenges facing the education sector in Abuja today November 13th, President Buhari said it was no longer a secret that the sector was in crisis.
The president said the effect of decay in the education sector is glaring, vowing that his administration would change the situation for the better. He made reference to the competency test conducted in Kaduna state and how it has shown the decadence in public schools administration. President Buhari said that the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is currently working to correct the poor quality of education in his state.
