Speaking at the event, the 43-year-old “Desperate Housewives” star recounted how she moved to Hollywood 20 years ago and dreamt of one day having a star.
“It’s just been a surreal journey,” she said through tears, adding, “I feel like I’m still a little girl from Corpus Christi, Texas, who had a really big dream and big hair. As a woman and as a Latina, I represent a lot of communities and I want to tell all those communities that this isn’t my star, this is our star.”
"What a dream come true today! Receiving my star on the Walk of Fame is an honor I can’t even believe I’m going to experience! Can’t wait to join all the legends and even more so, can’t wait for all of y’all to go and visit it! ?????" she wrote on Instagram. The Hollywood ceremony was attended by Longoria’s family and friends, including actresses Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington and Melanie Griffith, Anna Faris, designer Victoria Beckham, producer Marc Cherry and TV host Mario Lopez.
Seated next to the podium, Longoria, who is expecting a baby boy with media mogul José “Pepe” Bastón in May, listened to her friends applaud a career that kicked off when a talent competition brought the Texas native to Los Angeles.
She landed a guest spot on “Beverly Hills, 90210” and a role on daytime soap “The Young and the Restless” — and of course the “Bon Bon” video.
She also featured as a supermodel, Gabrielle Solis on the ABC drama Desperate Housewives.
