Lafia Massacre: How many policemen were killed, 43, 70, 100?

 

I'm sure by now most of you have heard about the killing of many security operatives in Nassarawa State. (Read the story HERE ),

On Tuesday May 7th, Nassarawa State Commissioner of Police sent police officers, SSS and Civil Defense personnel to arrest the cult leader of a notorious militia group called 'Ombatse' (a cult group of the Eggon people of Nasarawa State) at Assakyo Village in Lafia, Nassarawa state. (Ombatse in Eggon language means “time has come”).

The state government wanted to arrest the chief priest because the group had been causing security concerns in the state. Unfortunately for the police officers sent to pick the man up, as they approached the Ombatse Shrine in a forest, members of the militia group who had laid ambush for them attacked and killed plenty of them. Many of the police officers were burnt beyond recognition.

How they got me pregnant at baby factory- Victims reveal

If you recall, the Police uncovered a baby making factory in Imo State this week, where girls are abducted and kept there to give birth and the babies are sold or used for unknown purposes..the girls are also subjected to untold hardship and suffering. If you missed it, read it (HERE)

The Nation spoke to some of these girls who revealed how they found themselves there... Read it Below;

Nine girls, forced into pregnancy at a ‘baby factory’ in Imo State, have finally spoke of how they became victims of the highly secret cartel led by a woman known as Madam One Thousand.
The nine were arrested by the police yesterday after initially escaping during a raid of the ‘baby factory’.
Their arrest brings to 26 the number of victims rescued from Ahamefula Motherless Babies Home, Umuaka in Njaba Council Area of the state.
They are aged between 14 and 25.

"I'm totally healed of cancer" - Vast of Bracket declares

Fans and well wishers of Vast, were sad when they learnt one half of the superstar duo, Bracket was down with cancer of the blood and had many more treatments to go ...he didn't deny the reports but claims it happened in February and is completely healed now..

He posted on his Facebook and Instagram yesterday;

I want to say a very big thank u to all..and I want u to know that am totally healed..it was a baby cancer so am lucky..watch out for temperature video today or tomorrow. You see how good I look..God bless u all.
I am strong,healthy,and full of energy.i thank d lord for that and I also thank all my fans for being there...kisses��
He also replied a fan by saying "hahaha...my dear its an old news..I was healed since February"

Fomer Falcon's coach Jossy Lad dies at 72

Ex- Chief Coach of the Super Falcons, Joseph Ladipo, popularly known as Jossy Lad, has died aged 72. Jossy Lad died in his house yesterday Thursday May 9th after a battle with a heart related ailment and prostate cancer. Mr Ladipo died while having breakfast yesterday morning according to his daughter, Bimbo Olalere. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

Nasarawa Police Ambush: Dead toll hits 43

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, today confirmed that the death toll from Tuesday’s attack on policemen by a militia had risen to 43.

Al-Makura announced the figure when he received a delegation from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who  came to help in the search and rescue effort for victims.
He said 17 security personnel were still missing but added that the injured were responding to treatment, while some had been discharged from the hospital.
The governor said the ambush on policemen was an act of sabotage by the group, which might have infiltrated the ranks of security operatives in the state.

Politician & hotelier Prince Buruji Kashamu robbed of $62,000 on Arik flight

On Tuesday May 7th, popular hotelier and politician Prince Buruji Kashamu was on Arik flight no - W3155 from Lagos to Abuja, Time- 15h00. Ticket number 7253293631462-1. Seat no- 4F, when his $62, 000 disappeared from his briefcase. Below is what he said.

"I have never heard of this type of daylight robbery and didn't think I would be the first but the next time it happens to me, Arik Air should be ready for me.

I had $62,000 ( sixty two thousand dollars) in my briefcase and saw the money just before I went through screening. I noticed in the car on my way to the hotel that the money has mysteriously left my suitcase.

Arik air either has a ring of thieves doing this operation in collaboration with the operators of the screening machine or has a spirit that steals from its overhead compartment."

I heard that some people actually buy business class tickets just to steal from the rich men in that section of the plane. This is not the first time we are hearing about people losing things on the plane. The airline companies need to be more vigilant.

American Idol to get rid all 4 judges. Randy Jackson makes a statement

According to reports, none of the current American Idol judges are being asked back. AI ratings have dropped by almost 25% from last year. By far the lowest ratings the show has ever had.

“All four are gone,” the insider told TheWrap. “They feel they’ve lost their core audience and they want it back.”

E! News reports:

“Yes, we want to do a whole new panel - but, just like last time around, it depends on who we get,” a Fox source confirmed to E! News in response to a report that all four judges will be leaving after this season because the now 12-year-old show is in need of a massive jolt of new energy.

The longest serving Idol judge Randy Jackson has released a statement confirming his exit from the show.

Man arrested with N106m fake drugs and condoms

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has arrested a trader, Olisaemeka Osefoh, for importation of counterfeit medicines into Nigeria.

The suspect was also arrested with fake Rough Rider condoms. PUNCH Metro learnt that the estimated street value of the goods was N106, 210, 000.
Some of the drugs seized include, Mycoten cream, Neurogesic ointment and Skineal cream.
In his statement, the suspect said he was in partnership with a cartel based in China, where the products were sourced, before being shipped to Nigeria.

Man United appoint Everton Boss David Moyes as new manager

David Moyes will succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager on a six-year deal starting on 1 July.Moyes, who leaves Everton after 11 years in charge at Goodison Park, was Ferguson’s recommendation to succeed him as manager at Old Trafford.The 50-year-old was out of contract at Everton at the end of the season.
“We unanimously agreed on David Moyes,” said Ferguson, who announced his retirement on Wednesday after 26 years as United boss.

“David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of assistant manager here.
“There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this club.”
Moyes, who was recommended to the United board by Ferguson and will be introduced as Red Devils boss in “due course”, said it was “a great honour” to be appointed as the new manager of the Premier League champions.
