US President Donald Trump has finally addressed allegations that his attorney Michael Cohen paid porn star Stormy Daniels hush money days before the 2016 presidential election so she could keep quiet about her sexual affair with Trump.
So far, Trump has been silent on the subject, but on Thursday, he finally addressed it. He said he had no idea his lawyer paid $130,000 to Stephanie Clifford, more popularly known as Stormy Daniels.
Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said "No" when he was asked whether he had known Cohen paid Daniels, and insisted he had no knowledge of where the money came from.
He was then asked why Cohen wrote the six-figure check and Trump said: "You'll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael is my attorney."
When he was asked about whether he had set up a fund for Cohen to draw on for such purposes, he refused to answer.
Michael Cohen has said that he took out a home equity line of credit to withdraw the money which he paid Daniels, and that he never told Trump about it. Cohen has also denied that Trump's campaign or Trump's real estate company reimbursed him for the expense.
Cohen has said he made that move to prevent Daniels from publicly claiming that she had an extramarital affair with the Donald Trump in 2006 and 2007, shortly after first lady Melania gave birth to their son Barron
